DAPIX - Working Party on Information Exchange and Data Protection

The Police's scope of competences includes also attending the Working Party on Information Exchange and the expert sub-parties on DNA and dactyloscopy data.

The tasks of the party include, inter alia, coordinating the implementation of the Council Framework Decision 2006/960/JHA of 18 December 2006 on simplifying the exchange of information and intelligence between law enforcement authorities of the Member States of the European Union in particular EU Member States,and addressing the issues regarding the Information Management Strategy implementation.

Moreover, the Working Party on Information Exchange includes meetings of three technical sub-parties: on DNA profiles exchange, dactyloscopic data exchange, and vehicle registration data exchange. They correspond with the range of group's dossier, which also includes coordinating the implementation of The Council Decision 2008/615/JHA of 23 June 2008 on the stepping up of cross-border cooperation, particularly in combating terrorism and cross-border crime (so called the Prüm Decision)in the EU member states.

The leading units in attending the works of the abovementioned group are: NPH International Police Cooperation Bureau and Central Forensic Laboratory of Police (with regard to the technical sub-groups).

Additionally, the leading institution for the Working Group on Data Protection under DAPIX is the Legal Department of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration.
